Verzia at Novotvar
Against the Current: The Netherlands and Flanders & Indigenous Children of Canada

At Novotvar, you can not only read Verzia, but also listen to it! We invite you to a discussion about how its latest issues came into being. Benjamin Bossaert, editor of the first issue of this year, which focuses on contemporary literature written in Dutch and explores themes such as the climate crisis and queer identity, will introduce the issue and its background.

The second issue, featuring excerpts from works by some of the most prominent Indigenous voices from Canada and reflecting their experiences of residential schools, will be presented by its co-editor Lucia Grauzľová. The discussion will be moderated by Andrea Makýšová Volárová.

Time and venue: 2 October 2026 at 6:00 p.m., V-klub, Nám. SNP 12, Bratislava.

Verzia magazine is published with the financial support of FPU and the LITA Fund. The presented issues were made possible thanks to the support of Flanders Literature, the Embassy of Canada in Slovakia and Martinus.
