Margit Garajszki

Margit Garajszki is a writer, playwright and theatre director who enjoys combining fantasy with the real world, adventure with discovery, and serious themes with humour in her books for children. In Bobuľa, she tells the story of a little girl who spends several days with her grandparents in the countryside while waiting for her sister to be born. Thanks to a child’s curiosity and imagination, ordinary days turn into small adventures and great discoveries. In the sequel, Bobuľa a Ignác, the story moves from the countryside to old Pressburg, where the needle of the sadness meter has shifted. Together with Ignác Lamár, one of the best-known characters of old Bratislava, Bobuľa sets out on a journey in search of brightness and joy. The book Bartók introduces children to the childhood of the world-famous composer Béla Bartók. Real events from his life intertwine with the fairy-tale world of The Wooden Prince, allowing young readers to discover not only Bartók’s story but also the world of music that accompanied him from childhood. In Šafi a Gallus, a boy named Šafi receives a bad grade at school. Afraid to tell his mother, he runs into the forest in distress and gets lost. In a clearing, he meets Gallus, a capercaillie. Together they embark on an adventurous journey to save a forest attacked by bark beetles. The story is about nature and its fragile balance, but also about friendship, courage, and the idea that even a child can do something important for the world around them.
