Margit Garajszki

Margit Garajszki is a writer, playwright and theatre director who, in her books for children, enjoys combining imagination with the real world, adventure with discovery, and serious themes with humour.

In the book Bobuľa, she tells the story of a little girl who spends several days with her grandparents in the countryside while waiting for her sister to be born. Thanks to the child’s curiosity and imagination, ordinary days turn into small adventures and great discoveries.

In the sequel Bobuľa and Ignác, the story moves from the countryside to Pressburg, where the hand of the “sadness meter” has shifted. Bobuľa sets out in search of brightness and joy together with Ignác Lamár, one of the best-known figures of old Bratislava.

The book Bartók introduces children to the childhood of the world-famous composer Béla Bartók. Real events from his life are interwoven with the fairy-tale world of The Wooden Prince, allowing young readers to discover not only Bartók’s story but also the world of music that accompanied him from childhood.

In Šafi and Gallus, a boy named Šafi receives a bad grade at school. He does not have the courage to tell his mother and, upset, runs into the forest, where he gets lost. In a clearing, he meets a capercaillie named Gallus. Together, they embark on an adventurous journey to save a forest attacked by bark beetles. The story explores nature and its fragile balance, as well as friendship, courage, and the idea that even a child can do something important for the world around them.
